​Mindy Yang was born and grew up in China, got a BA in Journalism from Fudan University, and became a TV director. Due to a twist of fate, she transposed to New York where she got an MS. in Computer Science and
worked as a software engineer at Bloomberg. Then she wandered away. ​She published several short stories in Chinese and English.
